You should not take iron and calcium together. When taken at the same time, iron and calcium bind together and significantly reduce absorption [1]. Since iron is best absorbed when taken on an empty stomach and in the presence of vitamin C, it’s recommended to take it at least 2-3 hours before or after a calcium supplement.
