This question is about Nutrition and Cycling
Yes, Clif bars are good before a ride because they contain a balance of complex carbohydrates
Clif bars are primarily made of oats, a complex carbohydrate that slowly releases energy into the bloodstream for sustained energy. They also contain honey, which delivers rapid energy to the working muscles. Lastly, Clif bars have nuts for protein and healthy fats, both of which take longer to digest than carbohydrates. These nutrients keep you satiated throughout a workout.
Some cyclists may be able to tolerate Clif Bars during a ride, but if you’re cycling intensely and/or have a sensitive GI tract, you’re better off going for easily digestible carbohydrates such as sports drinks, bananas, chews, and gels during a ride to avoid GI discomfort.
